De Stuifheuvel in Zeist is ontstaan in de jaren 30 van de vorige eeuw.
Er waren in die tijd veel werklozen en daarvoor werden werkverschaffingsprojecten opgezet.
Een zo’n project was het graven van twee vijvers op het Oranje Nassauplein. Het zand van die afgraving werd een paar honderd meter verder gestort op de plek die wij nu de Stuifheuvel noemen. Hoewel de Stuifheuvel in de loop der jaren wel flink is afgesleten, kun je er in de winter nog steeds geweldig sleeën.
The Stuifheuvel (sandhill) arised in the early thirties of the last century.
In those days there were a lot of unemployed people and for them the government created unemployment relief works.
One of these projects was digging a couple of ponds on the Oranje Nassauplein. The sand that was digged out was used to create the hill which we still call the Stuifheuvel.
Allthough the hill is worn down a lot, it’s still great to sledge down the hill in the winter, at least if there is enough snow.
