USE PARKING CORDS! A popular conservation practice in the Tri-Cities has approx. 400 Wood Duck nest boxes. The hens generally lay an egg a day in the morning. A nest typically has 8 to 12 eggs, but occasionally multiple hens will lay eggs in the same box totaling 18 - 24 eggs before one hen claims the nestime & incubate the eggs. Incubation lasts about 30 days. Once hatched, they will only be in the box for about 24 hours before they climb to the entrance and jump to the ground.
