A Cache in the Bogd Khan Uul Biosphere Reserve
The Bogd Khan Mountain (Mongolian: Богд хан уул, lit. "Saint Khan Mountain") is a mountain in Mongolia that overlooks the nation's capital, Ulaanbaatar, from a height of 3000 feet (914 m) above and to the south of the city. [Source: Wikipedia]
The cache is hidden right next to the footpath leading to the top of the mountain. The cumulative elevation gain from the official parking spot is 500 metres; the distance is approximately 3 kilometres.
It is called "Red Wolf" because the mountain used to be home to a now extinct population of "Red Wolves":
The Tibetan wolf (Canis lupus chanco), also known as the woolly wolf, is a grey wolf subspecies native to Central Asia from Turkestan throughout Tibet to Mongolia, northern China and the Indian subcontinent. In Tibet and Ladakh it is known as chánkú or shanko. [Source: Wikipedia]
