The Maryland Geocaching Society invites everyone to join us on Saturday, October 8th at 10:30 am for the MGS 2016 Fall Picnic at Widmeyer Park in Hancock, MD.
We would like to invite everyone who has an interest in the game of geocaching to come and join us. You do not have to be a member of the MGS to attend. No matter if you have 10 or 10,000 finds, everyone is welcome! The Town of Hancock have once again opened the doors to the MGS for the weekend. A pavilion, parking and seating have been provided by the town to the MGS free of charge. We were able to secure camping again this year as well a fire ring with firewood provided by the town! On-site camping spots will be made available for geocachers. RV's and campers will be allowed to park on the premises even though there on no electrical hookups. Pets are allowed at this park though they need to be on a leash.
Our annual cornhole tournament is held during this event. Bring your skills and challenge some of the finest players in the caching community!
Our tentative schedule for the day:
10am – Set-up and grills fired up
10:30am to 4:00pm – Caching, 50/50, Pathtag Raffle Winner Announced, Eating, Games, Cornhole, Socializing.
1:00pm - Announcements, Tag Design Raffle Winner Announced, etc.
1:30 – Annual Cornhole tournament starts
3:00pm – Group Photo
Please bring a prepared dish to share and post a "Will Attend" log if you are planning to attend. The event will be held rain or shine! Hope to see you there! Be sure to follow the MGS Forums for updates and other information including additional lodging information.
