Geocache Description:

This is the 25th geocache from Team Family Affair. We created this cache while on a 12 day Caribbean cruise. This virtual cache is located at Parque Vargas (Vargas Park) in the port town Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. The park is located right along the seawall, just a 5-minute walk from the pier. The park is filled with monuments, beautiful tropical trees and lots of flowers. Don’t forget to look up, as you will be able to enjoy watching the birds and perhaps see a sloth hanging in one of the trees.

In the park near the seawall is a monument to Christopher Columbus who first visited this village in June 1502. This was Columbus's forth and final voyage across the ocean to the New World 500 years ago, as Columbus and his crew were searching for the eastern coast of Asia. They had no idea how big the world really was! Unfortunately Columbus died just a few years later in 1506, never completely realizing what He and his crew had discovered.

To log this cache as a find you must:

  • Find the monument, take a selfie picture of yourself and your team with the monument in the background and post it to your “found log” on this geocache page.
  • We hope you enjoy this cache as much as we did creating it!
