Geocache Description:

An old basement that marks the spot where a sawmill once stood.  It was built by early settlers, Daniel Holmes and John Burnham, about 1837 on what is now called the Holmes Brook.

The coordinates will take you to the site of an old saw mill.  As well, near this area towards the brook can be found an old earthen berm that is believed to be part of the dam to collect the water supply for the saw mill.  In the old basement stands what remains of an old pine tree.  In the summer of 2015 descendants of Daniel Holmes gathered from all corners of the globe for a family reunion.  They visited this spot and if you look closely at the old pine tree you will find some of their names signed on this old tree.  You will also find the coordinates that will lead you to the cache container.
