Geolympix Countdown 5: Lincoln Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Although there's still a coin booked in, I think it's time to archive this event at Geolympix Countdown 4: Amsterdam is on Monday. Thanks again to folks who attended (keep spreading the word. Especially about the National Geocaching Awards, if you can't make the Geolympix) and I hope to see you in July. Failing that, August for the Maze (which the Geolympix is supporting with cold hard cash).

Geocache Description:

A chance to hear a bit about our plans for the summer's Geolympix Mega which is being held at Ashridge Estate, Berkhamsted, Herts on July 31st 2016.

Where: The Ritz 143-147 High St, Lincoln LN5 7PJ. Phone: 01522 512103. A former cinema which is now a chain pub. "Billed as a super cinema for Lincoln, it opened in 1932 and screened its last film six decades later." Room for 18+ people reserved. Please say how many you are in your Will Attend logs to help me ensure the pub is ready for us!

When: Thursday the 18th of February 2016, from 7pm 'til 9pm.

What: A gathering of cachers to talk caching, swap travel items and caching stories, and enjoy the venue's art deco interior. The venue offers step-free wheelchair access and welcomes children. There's also free wifi.

Why: The Geolympix Countdown cache events are roadshow meets to promote the Geolympix and talk about the plans we have for the best (tbc) Geocaching event of 2016! There's the first National Geocaching Awards, a caching film festival, Europe's 9th oldest cache (England's 2nd oldest, UK's 3rd oldest) plus the UK's oldest Puzzle cache and much, much more!

Also: A theme of the Geolympix is old caches (England's oldest, GC171, is close by), and the area around Lincoln is blessed with lots early ones too. One's 22 miles away, but there are six caches hidden in 2001 within 50 miles.
