In prossimità della foce del fiume Verzasca nel Lago Maggiore, la passerella collega la sponda del Comune di Tenero-Contra a Gordola.
Posta lungo il collegamento pedonale-ciclabile fra Bellinzona e Locarno,
l’opera realizzata permette di superare i 120 m dell’alveo naturale della Verzasca.
L’idea del progettista è conseguente all’osservazione e all’interpretazione del luogo.
In questo senso, il “Ponte dei balzi” di Lavertezzo in Val Verzasca è stato il riferimento per lo sviluppo del progetto
che con un gesto strutturale deciso e significativo, ha nel contempo saputo impiegare l’acciaio con un ridotto impiego di materiale.
La piattabanda in acciaio, formata centralmente da un profilo tubolare principale e da travi di riva ad anima piena collegate tra loro con delle travi rastremate,
è collegata alla struttura portante ad arco con tiranti divergenti.
La struttura è stabilizzata orizzontalmente con un sistema di controventatura metallica nella zona centrale,
mentre il piano di calpestio, formato da lastre in beton prefabbricato, ha la funzione di consolidare il resto del piano di scorrimento.
Gli elementi, quali piattabanda e archi, sono stati assiemati prevalentemente in officina in modo da ridurre al minimo le saldature in cantiere,
a favore della qualità e dei tempi di realizzazione.
La passerella doveva rientrare in una classe di corrosività C3 secondo la norma ISO 12944.
In officina è stata eseguita la sabbiatura SA 2 ½ mentre in cantiere la molatura rispettivamente la spazzolatura.
Inoltre, per il parapetto è stato effettuato un trattamento Duplex, prima una zincatura a bagno poi il trattamento di superficie vero e proprio.

Vom angegebenen Parkplatz ist der Cache in 10 Min. zu Fuss erreichbar.
Nahe der Mündung des Flusses Verzasca in den Lago Maggiore verbindet die Passerelle die beiden Gemeinden Tenero-Contra und Gordola.
Sie ist Teil eines Weg- und Brückennetzes zwischen Bellinzona und Locarno und überquert mit 120 Metern eine natürliche Flusslandschaft der Verzasca.
Eine alte Steinbrücke im Verzascatal bot die formale Anlehnung für den Brückenentwurf: In Stahl auf das materielle Minimum reduziert,
aber umso kräftiger und eleganter in seiner tragenden Geste.
Eine Doppelwelle zeichnen zwei parallel geführte Rundrohre, die jeweils an den Brückenköpfen zusammenlaufen.
Dazwischen gespannt sind sekundäre Rundrohre in K-Form – als Abstandhalter und zur Aussteifung.
Die Doppelwelle berührt das Flussbett nur an einer Stelle und lagert dort auf einem Stützpunkt aus Beton auf.
Die Fahrbahn aus vorgefertigen Betonelementen liegt auf einem horizontalen Stahlfachwerk auf,
welches an Stahlkabeln an den Bogensegmenten aufgehängt ist und gleichzeitig auf den beiden Hauptverstrebungen auflagert.
Besonderes Augenmerk wurde auf die Ausbildung der Brückenköpfe gelegt, welche die Kräfte der Stahlbögen aufnehmen.
Die Balustrade mit integrierter Beleuchtung folgt der Neigung
zwischen Fahrbahn und Stahlbögen – die Beleuchtungselemente setzen sich in den angrenzenden Wegen fort,
so dass sie mit der Überbrückung des Wassers zu einer Bewegung zusammenlaufen.
Mit der Auszeichnung Prix Acier 2009 würdigt die Jury ein interessantes, poetisches und elegantes Brückenbauwerk mit ausgeprägtem, individuellem Charakter.

From the parking waypoint you can reach the cache by feet within 10 minutes.
Next to Verzasca river mouth in Lake Maggiore, a boardwalk links Tenero-Contra municipality bank to Gordola municipality bank.
The structure, that is situated on the bike and pedestrian path linking Bellinzona to Locarno,
allows to pass the 120 m long, natural, Verzasca riverbed by.
The designer’s idea grows out of the site observation and interpretation.
So the Lavertezzo’s “Ponte dei balzi” in Verzasca Valley has been the reference to the layout of the project,
that was able to use steel and a few material too, thanks to a resolute and considerable structural engineering.
The flat arch is basically composed of a slightly bowed straight line, while the four arches are curved into space.
The steel flat arch – centrally constituted by a main tubular section and by solid web shores linked to each other
through some tapered beams – is linked to the arched load-bearing structure through divergent suspenders.
A metal bracing system in the central area horizontally levels the structure off,
while the footpath ground, composed of prefabricated concrete panels, reinforces the running surface.
The elements – flat arch and arches –had been mainly assembled in the workshop
in order to minimize welds in the building site to improve quality and building time.
The boardwalk had to be part of C3 corrosion class according to ISO 12944 rule.
SA 2 ½ sandblasting was completed in the workshop, while the grinding about the deburring was finished in the building site.
Moreover, a Duplex treatment was done to the railing.
First a hot-dip galvanization, then the out-and-out surface treatment were made.
