This is my home town Very little Civil War activity took place here but Florida was Big in the Civil War.

It has been 151 years since the war that separated the greatest and youngest nation on earth, i.e., the War Between the States or the Civil War. Entire families on both sides left the comfort of farms and homes to go to war for the preservation of the Union of the United States; or preservation of the sanctity of the States rights provided by the constitution. Reasons for the war Some say slavery, others taxes, and tariffs, while the list is long there were no simple answers. We provide you with the facts and history that represent our ancestor’s so that they may not be forgotten. This is history, of one of the most troubled times of Our Great Nation, men of honor, courage, determination, racing into battle to defend Freedom. We honor these great men and all Americans of every race that gave there all. • More than three million men fought in the Civil War about 900,000 for the Confederacy and 2.1 million for the Union. • An estimated 300 women disguised themselves as men and fought in the ranks. • More than 620,000 people, or two percent of the population, died in the Civil War. • Approx. 6,000 battles, skirmishes, and engagements
were fought during the Civil War. There were over 2,000 boys who were 14 years old or younger in the Union ranks. Three hundred were 13 years or less, while there were 200,000 no older than.
