Azores Tea

Trilho - Trail

[PT] Pequeno trilho pedestre

Atravesse cautelosamente a estrada regional em direcção ao portão de acesso à plantação de chá e siga em frente até encontrar indicação para virar à esquerda.

Esta é a parte ascendente do percurso que se desenvolve em caminho de terra batida pelo meio da plantação de chá.

Carefully cross the regional highway towards the main gate to the entrance of the tea plantation and keep straight ahead until you see a sign to turn to the left.

This is the upward part of the trail, which follows a dirt path across the tea plantation.

[PT] Cerca de 1.200 metros após o início do percurso irá passar por cima de uma ponte em pedra. A pastagem passa a tomar o lugar do chá e das matas.

Cerca de 450 metros depois verá à sua direita um conjunto de construções de apoio à actividade agrícola. Siga em frente, de novo com o chá como companhia e depois a pastagem.

Depois de atravessar uma mata de criptomérias, vire à esquerda em direcção ao ponto mais alto do percurso. Pouco depois encontrará bebedouros de gado do lado direito.

[EN] About 1.200 metres from the start of the trail, you will cross a stone bridge which will take you into an area of pastureland and woods.

About 450 metres further on you will find a group of agricultural buildings to your right. Keep straight ahead across more tea plantations and then more pastureland.

After crossing a wood of Japanese red cedar, turn left towards the highest point on the trail. Just a little further on, you will see drinking troughs for cattle to your right.

[PT] Após 100 metros, no alto da pastagem, vire à direita e dirija-se à Casa do Mirante, uma construção neste momento em ruína, de onde pode desfrutar de uma magnífica vista sobre grande parte da costa norte da ilha, desde o Pico da Vara, para nascente, até à Ribeirinha para noroeste. Em baixo, as plantações de chá e a Fábrica.

Volte pelo mesmo caminho e no final deste troço, encontrará uma indicação para virar à esquerda atravessando uma pastagem. Siga junto à mata de criptomérias, contornando pastagem até entrar de novo no caminho, onde deverá virar à esquerda.

Após 200m perto de uma antiga casa da lavoura, entre à sua esquerda num caminho que o conduzirá à entrada para a plantação de chá.

[EN] After another 100 metres, at the top of the pasture, turn right and walk towards the Casa do Mirante, a house now in ruins, from which you get a wonderful sweeping view over the north coast of the island, from Pico da Vara, to the east, to Ribeirinha, to the northwest. Down below lie the tea plantations and the Tea Factory.

Go back down the same path and at the end of this stretch you will see a sign indicating a left turn across a field. Keep on alongside a thicket of Japanese red cedar, skirting the pastureland until you get back onto the path, where you should turn left.

About 200 metres further on, near an old farmhouse, take the path to your left which will take you back to the entrance to the tea plantation.

[PT] A parte final do percurso desenvolve-se no interior da plantação, até de novo chegar à estrada regional.

[EN] The final stretch of the trail leads back to the regional highway via the tea plantation.
