Ces volcans sont les reliques d’un volcanisme qui accompagne la formation des Limagnes, ces grandes plaines qui lézardent les massifs cristallins du Massif Central. A cette époque, la croûte terrestre européenne est soumise à un étirement, qui se matérialise ici par la rupture du continent et la formation des bassins d’effondrement. La fusion du manteau terrestre, en dessous, provoque alors l’apparition des magmas qui commencent leur ascension vers la surface.
Le circuit du Pic des Fleurides vous donne à voir les roches et les panoramas permettant de comprendre la formation et l’organisation de ce territoire.
Le circuit du Pic des Fleurides se compose de deux earth cache

These volcanoes were born there is more than 20 million years. Since then, the erosion shaped the landscapes, the vegetation grew and they are hidden, today, under the trees of La Comtée. To understand the origins of these volcanic hills and observe them through the forest, the departmental council proposes a " geologic course ", the circuit of the Pic des Fleurides.

These volcanoes are the relics of a volcanism which accompanies the training of Limagnes, these big plains which crack the crystalline massifs of Massif Central.
