The ramble consists of a mixture of thirty-three caches, plus a bonus cache, it can either be done as a figure-of-eight of nearly seven miles or as two separate rounds of approximately three miles each. Information regarding the bonus cache (#34) can now be found on the bonus cache page. An extra cache, Avening#3, a remnant of a former series, can be collected en-route.
The ramble is mainly on footpaths and quiet lanes. Some paths can be muddy at times and there are several stiles. There is a fairly steep start to the ramble up through the village before the route flattens out on the plateau. A copy of OS Explorer Map 168 Stroud, Tetbury and Malmesbury may be of benefit.
On street parking is available in Avening High Street and close to caches #10, #12, #20 and #27.
The painting of the Roundabout in winter is by local artist Rima Jones.
NOTE: From #1 Roundabout Ramble continue 30 metres up the hill to where the road forks. Turn left and walk a further 60 metres then turn back on yourself and continue up Pound Hill. After the parking area, a footpath continues on the right, between two walls, to #2 Roundabout Ramble.
