"Dot-tee" Theriot Ratliff has lived on Bayou Petit Caillou all her life. As a child, she spent her time playing in the woods, fishing on the bayou side, and enjoyed the outdoors. She began painting in her fifties and puts her heart in each and every painting. Painting became therapeutic for her after teaching preschool in the bayou schools for 33 years. She never had an art lesson, except ceramics in college. She first started painting on things that she found such as bar, rocks, and shells. She worked as a gardener at LUMCON and the fiddler crabs were a big smelly problem. She began to paint "Tou_Lou-Lous" (fiddler crabs) on clear plates. From there she progressed to larger pieces of glass, painting on both sides and with many layers of paint. Dot-tee now paints freely about her experiences on the bayou. All of her frames are made from cypress found after hurricanes or given to her by friends. If interested stop into Dot-Tee's gallery and enjoy the beautiful art she created..
