[LV] Redāns, 19. gadsimta beigās celts Liepājas Jūras cietokšņa nocietinājums tagadējā 14.novembra bulvārī bija nozīmīgs objekts, kas atrodas pie Tosmares ezera un kara laikā būtu sargājis frontes līniju starp Ziemeļu un Vidusfortu. Interesanti, ka cietokšņa nocietinājums vēsturiski ir ticis divreiz spridzināts, bet dīvainā kārtā kanāla lielākā būve - Redāns pārdzīvojis abas šīs spridzināšanas un skatāms vēl šodien.
Lai arī mēdz uzskatīt, ka Cietokšņa kanāla krastos reāla kara darbība nekad nav notikusi, tā gluži nav tiesa. Cietokšņa kanālam un tā krastā esošiem militāriem objektiem ir svarīga loma 1919.gada novembra Brīvības cīņās pret bermontiešiem.1919.gada 14.novembra rītā, pārejot aizsalušo Tosmares ezeru, bermontiešu kājnieki, pārvarot latviešu pretošanos, Redānu ieņēma un nostiprinājās. Taču ap pulksten 10 Liepājas Kara ostas komandants, virsleitnants Roberts Radziņš ar saviem karavīriem veica niknu pretuzbrukumu un vāciešiem nācās atkāpties.

[EN] Redans was built in the Liepāja in late 19th century as Naval fortress fortification. It was an important subject, which is located at Tosmares lake and during the war would be protecting the front line between the North and Middle Fort. Fortress canal and its bank of existing military facilities had an important role in November 1919 Freedom Fights against bermontians. In 1919 November 14 morning, moving Tosmares frozen lake, Bermontians infantry, overcoming latvians resistance, ranked Redans and strengthened. However, around 10 o'clock Liepaja naval port commandant, First Lieutenant Robert Radziņš with their soldiers carried out a fierce counterattack, and the germans had to retreat.
