Mt. Lakes Camp is a little known County Park just north of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Although busy during the high camping season, it is otherwise quiet with excellent facilities. The camp is closed during the winter season but you can still park at the entrance and hike in. Although major renovations are underway on the cabins, there are still excellent lean-to and tent sites for camping along with canoes for rent during the summer season.
Take Hawley Rd. off of Rt. 121 south of its junction with Rt. 116. Once on Hawley Rd. be carefull of that sharp left turn or you will end up in someone's driveway. The park entrance is on the left.
Please do not bushwack from the entrance even though your GPS will tell you it's close. Continue down the park road until your GPS reads 0.36 miles from the target. There will be a pull-off on the right where you can park. Do not drive up the jeep trail even if the chain is down. From there it is an easy walk almost all of the way to the cache.
The cache is a medium sized tupperware container with a white lid.
