Geocache Description:

Cut End is the fifth in a series of six caches around the Pitton Circular Walk that has been created by the South Wilts Paths Group with assistance from Pitton Parish Council and Wiltshire Council. Each of the six caches can be visited in their own right, or by following the waymarked trail. This cache is also on the Clarendon Way long distance footpath between Winchester and Salisbury

Cut end of Big Log

Laminated guides for the walk can be borrowed from The Silver Plough, or the dispenser in front of the Village Hall. Please return them after enjoying the walk. This LINK will take you to the Pitton and Farley website from where you can download a guide to this walk and others in the area. The walk is also waymarked with distinctive white discs, in addition to the Wiltshire Footpath discs.
From Clarendon Palace, head back the way you came, and you will shortly see a footpath labelled “Clarendon Way” branching off to the left. Follow the Clarendon Way back to Pitton. After walking through the woods for a while, you will come to a cross roads where there is a convenient large log on your right to sit on. The cache is underneath. The clue is in the name.
When you have signed the log, please ensure the cache box is secured, and replace it discretely under the cut end. You can then set off for the final of the series, Allegro GC6439N
