Geocache Description:

Stairway to Heaven is the third in a series of six caches around the Pitton Circular Walk that has been created by the South Wilts Paths Group with assistance from Pitton Parish Council and Wiltshire Council. It is 4.8 mile waymarked trail starting from The Silver Plough at Pitton. Each of the six caches can be visited in their own right, or by following the waymarked trail.

Stairway to Heaven (locked)

Laminated guides for the walk can be borrowed from The Silver Plough, or the dispenser in front of the Village Hall. Please return them after enjoying the walk. This LINK will take you to the Pitton and Farley website from where you can download a guide to this walk and others in the area. The walk is also waymarked with distinctive white discs, in addition to the Wiltshire Footpath discs.
Stairway to Heaven is obviously a Tribute Cache, a good excuse to remember that all-time Led Zeppelin classic from Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.
The route from Hunt's Copse GC6438J is quite straight forward. Take the track opposite the stile, through the trees, across the fields and farm track, and back into forest. Soon you will see the Stairway. Now where would you hide the cache where shootists won't disturb it? Just hope they don't take a comfort break.
After signing the log, please secure the container, ensuring it is water-tight and hide as found; safe for the next visitor. Your next quest should be Clarendon Palace GC6438Y, but it has yet to be approved. For now, carry on to Cut End GC64393, but stay on the track to visit Clarendon Palace, and then join Clarendon Way. Please do not stray from the authorised Rights of Way, as there may be Hunters in those woods, and the landowner doesn't appreciate trespassers either.
