Church Micro 813...Waterlooville - St. George's Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

mellers: I visited GZ today to check on this one and things have changed quite a bit since the cache was placed. Unfortunately, there is a profusion of litter and the ivy has almost taken over. The hide itself has also moved a lot lower and is much more of a needle in a haystack hunt (in the ivy) than the quick and easy find this once was. It took me nearly 20 minutes to find it; full marks to any recent finder who did persevere and get it eventually!

Given that GZ itself is now what one cacher has already described as a 'disappointing' location (I agree, it's really not somewhere I'd want to place a cache now), I don't really want to keep this one going so I have removed the container. Thanks to everyone who has visited and thanks for the feedback alerting me to the problem.

Geocache Description:

This is a simple offset multi cache. Gather the information below to find the location of the final container; a 60ml micro pot. This is likely to take an average cacher less than 30 minutes.

There has been a church on this site since 1831 but the current building dates from 1970. Following a huge influx of new residents to Waterlooville in the 1950s, the decision to build a larger and more modern church here was taken in the early 1960s and the iconic 60s's design was chosen from architect, Kenneth Makins. It was a time when concrete was new and exciting and it seemed anything was possible. The stark lines, wing-shaped tower roof and pre-formed pebble dash, slab cladding are typical of the period. While the outside may seem dated and even drab by today's standards, the resulting interior is a bright and open space surrounded by stained glass windows. The windows themselves were influenced by modern art of the time, made famous by Piet Mondrian and known as neoplasticism.

At the placeholder co-ordinates you will find a stone arch with two plaques listing the names of the honoured dead from two world wars.
Q1. Which surname appears ONCE on one of the archway plaques and ONCE on the foundation stone at the church hall? (Waypoint HALL). The number of letters in this surname = A
Q2. Which surname appears ONCE on one of the archway plaques and TWICE on the foundation stone at the church hall? (Waypoint HALL). The number of letters in this surname = B

Stepping through the arch in to the grounds, you'll notice no graves obvious among the lawns but you can see the headstones stacked around the perimeter; a legacy from the previous building. The stones have been lined up this way since the new building was first 're-hallowed' in 1970 and the open grounds have become something of a green-space haven for the town. To protect the rear of the building and add some security for the otherwise concealed entrances, a fence was later erected - but rather unusually, you can see that they decided not to move one of the stones which was in the way. Go to waypoint FENCE.
Q3. What is the first name of Mr Garnett on the stone which has been bisected by the fence? The number of letters in this first name = C

At the North West (left) side of the door (waypoint WINDOW), is a bench in front of a stained glass window featuring two figures; they're angels as denoted by their wings.
Q4. What is HIS first name on the bench in front of that window? The number of letters in HIS first name = D
Q5. What is HER first name on the bench in front of that window? The number of letters in HER first name = E

Walk to the northern perimeter of the grounds (waypoint CROSS) where you will see a distinctive cross headstone for Charles Henry and Evelyn Rose.
Q6. What is the surname on the cross headstone? The number of letters in this surname = F
