There will be a total eclipse of the Moon on Monday 28 September, 2015 lasting from 02:11 AM–07:22 AM. The Moon will be totally eclipsed for 1 hour and 12 minutes. The maximum eclipse "is scheduled" for 4:47 AM. The interesting thing about this lunar eclipse is the fact that the Moon will be at perigee (closest point to the Earth) during the eclipse, making it look larger than usual.
At least if it is not behind the clouds or sunk in mist...
You can join us on the Parking Waypoint at 4:00 AM, or just spawn directly at the base of the observation tower Koenigswarte at 4:40 AM.
The logbook will be available at the base of the observation tower (cache coordinates) from 4:40 AM till 5:10 AM.
Disclaimer
We are not planning to provide any sophisticated tools, telescopes nor any lectures on the topic. This is rather going to be a plain existential experience of enjoying the chilly autumn morning in the forest with (possibly) an interesting event visible in the sky. If there is a misty weather and no moon observable... we just enjoy the walk! However, feel free to bring a telescope or anything else you wish to enhance the experience of watching the eclipse.
Access fee
The entrance to the observation tower costs 1 eur per person. However, you do not need to enter the tower to take part in this event.
