Geocache Description:

Brülisauer Anton (Toni, in short) from Appenzell, Switzerland, came to New York in 1995 to visit his uncle Brunner Jakob (Köbi in short), who had emigrated half a century earlier, and wasn't feeling well. Toni was surprised to learn that his uncle was one of the Secret Keepers of the famous Appezöller Swiss Cheese, and knew the ancient secret receipe for the herb brine that gave the cheese its unique flavor and taste. Even more startling though was the discovery that the local American cheese makers (the purveyors of the infamous orange rubber bricks called "cheddar") were apparently coming after Köbi in an attempt to steal the secret. Not trusting the safety of his home in an unpleasant section of Pleasantville, Köbi, weakend by his ailment, shared with Toni that he had hidden the formula outside of his appartment, but he didn't get into specifics, and, sadly, also didn't get a chance to elaborate before he passed away.

Returning from the funeral, Toni was alarmed to discover that his uncle's appartment had been searched and ransacked. Not much remained. Among the objects left was an ancient map of Köbi's old home village in Switzerland, which stood out among the other maps of mainly adjacent localities like Pleasantville, North Castle, anrd White Plains, and there also was a seemingly random list of mumbo jumbo place names that someone had jotted down on the margin of the old Swiss map:

Toni had no idea what all this meant though, and when he didn't find any money or other objects of value, he left everything behind, and returned to Switzerland.

Now, close to 20 years later, the map re-surfaced in a seedy dilapidated Yonkers pawn shop. It is your turn to decipher the secret, find the formula, and use it to help turn the evil orange american rubber bricks into real cheese!

This helpful GeoChecker might keep you from going on a wild orange rubber brick chase.
