Le site du Gibraltar, à Pozières, doit son nom à l'énorme blockhaus allemand situé à l'entrée sud du village
Surmonté d'une tour en béton à l'origine, il servait aux Allemands d'observatoire
Les Australiens appelèrent ce blockhaus "Gibraltar" parce que les soldats allemands tués ou faits prisonniers portaient l'insigne du régiments Gibraltar

The Gibraltar of the site, Pozières, owes its name to the huge German bunker located at the southern entrance of the village
Topped by a concrete tower originally,it served the German observatory.
Australian blockhouse called this "Gibraltar" because German soldiers killed or taken prisoner wore the badge of Gibraltar regiments
