This cache is placed in the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro.
The Zingaro Reserve extends in an area of 1650 hectares, with a coast zone of about 7 Kilometers, formed of a rocky coast Mesozoic limestone with numerous creeks and characterized by overhanging cliffs that from a maximum height of 913 meters (Monte Speziale) go swiftly down to the sea. The Zingaro enchants for its rough beauty, for its intense colours in every seasons, for its white little coves set in a turquoise sea, the omnipresent palmets (the symbol of the Reserve), the luxuriant Mediterranean bush, the strong wild olive trees and the magnificent carobs from where you can glimpse the harmonious shape of the rural houses. It was called “Cetaria” by the ancient Greeks and Romans called it " Cetaria " for the abundance of tuna in these waters.The cache is 200 metres before the Museo della Manna, which is really owrth a visit. From Museo della Manna you will be surprised to see a stone lion in the sea!
Notice: the Reserve is open from 7 am to 7 pm (from April to September) and from 8 am to 4 am (from October to March).
The Reserve has two entrances: one on the South at 1 km from Scopello Village, the other on the North at 12 Km from the town of San Vito Lo Capo. To have access on the South part, by car you can get the Highway A29 Palermo- Mazara del Vallo, exit Castellammare del Golfo; then go ahead through Strada Stradale 187, direction to Trapani. At about 4 Km follow the indications for Scopello up to the coast. Arrived at Guidaloca resort, follow the indications for “La Tonnara” (Tunny-fishing nets) in Scopello where it is possible to admire the beautiful stacks. After a few kilometers from the Tonnara there is the large square of the Reserve. There you leave the car in the parking area and walk from Cala di Mazzo of Sciacca through the Reserve paths. To have access to the North entrance, get the Strada Statale 187 up to the junction for SanVito Lo Capo. From the town go on to Villaggio Calampiso- Reserve the Zingaro.
You need to pay a ticket for the access to Zingaro: 5€ full ticket, 3€ reduced ticket (Youngster from 11 to 14 years), 1€ special ticket (schoolchildren, students of graduate course), free ticket (children under 11 years).

Lo Zingaro è una Riserva Naturale con una superficie di 1650 ettari, una fascia litoranea di circa 7 Km, formata da una costa rocciosa di calcari del Mesozoico, intercalata da numerose calette e caratterizzata da strapiombanti falesie che da un'altezza massima di 913 mt. (Monte Speziale) portano rapidamente al mare. Lo Zingaro incanta per la sua aspra bellezza, per i colori intensi in ogni stagione, per le bianche calette incastonate in un mare turchese, le onnipresenti palme nane (il simbolo della Riserva), la rigogliosa macchia mediterranea, i tenaci olivastri e i maestosi carrubi da dove si intravedono le armoniose forme delle case contadine. Gli antichi greci e i latini la chiamavano "Cetaria" per l'abbondanza dei tonni che si incontravano nelle sue acque. La cache si trova 200 metri prima del Museo della Manna, che merita una visita. Qui sarete anche sorpresi di scoprire il leone di pietra nel mare sottostante!
Attenzione: la Riserva è aperta dalle ore 7:00 alle 19:00 (da aprile a settembre) e dalle 8:00 alle 16:00 (da ottobre a marzo).
Ci sono due ingressi, uno a sud a 1 km dal borgo di Scopello e uno a nord dal paese di San Vito Lo Capo (12 km). Per accedere da Sud, arrivando in automobile dall' Autostrada A29 Palermo - Mazara del Vallo: imboccare lo svincolo per Castellammare del Golfo, quindi proseguire sulla Strada Statale 187 in direzione Trapani. A circa 4 Km seguire le indicazioni per Scopello fino a raggiungere la costa. Arrivati in località Guidaloca, seguire le indicazioni per la Tonnara di Scopello dove si possono ammirare i magnifici faraglioni. Superata la tonnara dopo pochi km si arriva al piazzale della Riserva. Lasciata l'automobile nell'apposito parcheggio, si prosegue a piedi, a partire da Cala di Mazzo di Sciacca, attraverso i sentieri della Riserva. Per accedere da Nord: arrivare sulla Strada Statale 187 fino al bivio per San Vito Lo Capo. Dal paese proseguire in direzione Villaggio Calampiso – Riserva Zingaro.
L’accesso alla Riserva dello Zingaro è a pagamento: 5€ biglietto intero, 3€ biglietto ridotto (ragazzi tra 11 e 14 anni, Militari in servizio di leva), 1€ biglietto speciale (scolaresche, gruppi formati da allievi di corsi di formazione), ingresso gratuito (cittadini italiani di età superiore ai 65 anni, bambini di età inferiore a 11 anni, Forze dell'Ordine in servizio).
