Geocache Description:

Defender was an arcade video game developed by Eugene Jarvis of Williams Electronics in 1980. The game was set on a fictional planet where the player must defeat waves of invading aliens while protecting astronauts.

Defender was commercially successful, selling over 55,000 units to become William's best selling arcade game. Praise among critics focused on the game's audio-visuals and gameplay. It is frequently listed as one of Jarvis' best contributions to the video game industry, as well as one of the most difficult video games. Defender was ported to numerous platforms, inspired the development of other games, and was followed by sequels and many imitations.

Defender is the only video game to ever be displayed on a United States stamp* though many video games have been on stamps of various other counties.

*I was told that Groundspeak was going to send me a certificate commemorating this but I have never received it. Last I spoke to them, I was told that they may have put the wrong postage on the envelope. We'll see.
