Kristuksen taivaaseenastumisen kirkko otettiin käyttöön vuonna 1997. Se kuuluu Helsingin ortodoksiselle seurakunnalle, joka on jäsenmäärältään maan suurin. Seurakuntaan kuului v. 2013 lopussa n. 20 000 henkeä, kun koko maassa ortodoksikirkon jäseniä oli n. 59 000. Helsingin seurakunnalla on Vantaan lisäksi kirkkoja Helsingissä ja Espoossa sekä usealla paikkakunnalla eri puolilla Uuttamaata. Sen pääkirkko on Uspenskin katedraali Helsingin Katajanokalla.
Tikkurilan kirkon on piirtänyt Arvo Sorsa, ikonostaasin ikonit on maalannut Juri Mitroshin ja lasimaalaukset Alexander Wikström.
Kätkölle on seurakunnan lupa, mutta älä mene piha-alueelle.
The Church of the Ascension (1997) belongs to the Orthodox parish of Helsinki. The main church of the parish is the Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki, and it has got several other churches in Helsinki and surroundings. By the end of 2013 there were ca. 20 000 members in the parish, while the number of members in the orthodox parishes together was ca. 59 000. The most common faiths in Finland are Lutheran Christianity and Orthodox Christianity. In 2013, there were ca. 4,1 million members in the Evangelical-Lutheran Church. Most of the Orthodox Christians are Finnish (many have Carelian roots), but the number of eg. Russians is increasing among them.
The architecture of the church is by Arvo Suorsa, the iconostase by Juri Mitroshin, and the glass paintings by Alexander Wikström.
