The above co-ordinates are for the entrance to the church car park. The churchyard can be accessed from the far end of the car park away from the road.

St Swithin's church was built in 1721, although a church did exist in the village during the Middle Ages and the church registers date back to 1598. Until it became a parish in its own right in 1894, Barston was a chapelry of Berkswell.For many years the chapel belonged to the Church of Berkswell, who provided a curate. The curate was licensed to Berkswell-cum-Barston. The old chapel was burnt down in 1721 and the present church built which is now registered as a Grade II listed building.
In 2013, the churchyard qualified as a local wildlife site. These sites represent the most important wildlife sites outside Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Their contribution is very critical, if we are to maintain a landscape rich in wildlife. The most valuable habitats within the churchyard are the extensive areas of semi improved neutral grassland which is left uncut in summer.
