[LV] Ālandes upe bijusi nozīmīgs tirdzniecības un satiksmes ceļš jau kuršu laikā. Vēsturiski tiek uzskatīts, ka Ālande sākotnēji ietecējusi jūrā, pirms sanešu un uzslāņojumu rezultātā no Baltijas jūras atdalīta saldūdens lagūna, kas izveidojusies par Liepājas ezeru. Līdz aptuveni 18.gs. sākumam Ālandes upe bijusi ūdeņiem bagātāka, un pa to ar liellaivām bijis iespējams nokļūt līdz Grobiņai. Vēlāk upe satiksmei un kravu pārvadāšanai nav tikusi izmantota, pamazām aizsērējot.
[ENG] Historically via the river of Ālande Grobiņa was accessible for seagoing ships and it was connected with the Baltic Sea. It was an important international trade route during the Curonian times. Later on the river gradually clogged, when it wasn’t used for trade route purposes.
