Directions:
1. How to get to the starting point (parking) by car or bike:
From Bled drive towards Bohinjska Bela. Shortly (ca. 1,5 km) after you have passed the village Bohinjska Bela turn left and follow the small local road all the way to the hamlet Kupljenik. The parking is located at the end of the little settlement Kupljenik, on the right side of the road (see given waypoints for parking).
2. How to get to the top of Babji zob and to the treasure:
Time: From the parking to the cache it should take you between 60 to 90 minutes.
Altitude difference: Kupljenik: 642m / Babji zob: 1128m (= 486m)
The trail for Babji zob starts directly at the parking. Just follow the gravel road (makadam) and the red and white trail markers and/or the wooden waypoint signs for Babji zob (they carry the number 11 > see also attached picture "Wooden signs"). In some sections of the trail orientation can be a bit difficult (especially at the beginning, because of all the crisscrossing forest roads). But with some navigational skills you should have no problems at all to find your way through this little labyrinth. I did not get lost a single time and I am not the greatest navigator.
After ca. 30 minutes of walking on gravel roads (maybe a bit less or more, depending on your speed), you have to turn right and continue on a small hiking trail that leads uphill (into the forest). You cannot miss this junction. There is a huge sign on the left side of the road which shows you the right direction. See waypoint II and attached picture "Turn right here". The trail gets a bit steeper now. Follow the red and white markers. Soon you will come to a clearing. Keep right (uphill).
The last part of the trail is the most spectacular. All the way to the top you will walk along the edge of a huge precipice. In some parts it goes down a few hundred meters, and that almost vertical. So watch your step and your children! Especially after rain it can be slippery.
From time to time you will have awesome views to Lake Bled and the Karawanks mountain range. It is a real paradise for photographers.
Directly on the top of Babji zob / Witch's Tooth you will find a little picknick bench and, of course, the object of desire .
Warning:
The treasure is hidden at a very exposed spot. But the good news is that you do not have to climb to get your hands on the box. See the given attributes and the terrain rating! Falling is not an option here. I don't want you to share the destiny of the poor old witch who, according to a local legend, fell down into the abyss.
PRISTOP NA LASTNO ODGOVORNOST! Do not say you were not warned. See also attached picture "Continue at your own risk from here".
Please, be extra careful when you are approaching ground zero! One false step and you will have a lot of air under your soles. And then your friends and family will be and you will be or ...
If you are in doubt about the microlocation, take a look at the provided spoiler picture. Ground zero is no place where you want to search for ages.
One last warning: Be aware of the ferocious dragon that guards the treasure (see picture "Guardian of treasure")!
I wish you a pleasant hike and treasure hunt!
