It is thought that St. Peter’s Church was founded in 1042 and it is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Little of the original Norman building survives and the bulk of the current building dates from the 11th Century.
The church has a wealth of history, and is now home to the Florence Nightingale Window, which was previously located in the chapel at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. A guide book “1000 Years of History” can be found at the back of the church.
The church is open Monday to Friday 10.00 to 15.00.
