Ce viaduc se situe sur la voie verte qui part de Lons-le-Saunier en direction de Courlans puis Courlaoux où elle rejoint la voie verte du Chemin des Dombes.
A l'origine, ce viaduc se situait sur la ligne ferroviaire qui reliait Lons-le-Saunier à Saint-Jean-de-Losne, ligne ouverte le 12/07/1905. La ligne fut fermée au transport de voyageurs le 28/09/1969, les marchandises ayant cessé à la même date sur la portion Bletterans - Chaussin. Par contre la ligne a fermé définitivement pour les marchandises entre Lons-le-Saunier et Bletterans en 1994.
Le viaduc mesure 338,60 m et comprend 16 arches de plein cintre dont 14 de 15 m d'ouverture et 2 de 25 m.
A 110 ans et à peine plus de 110 m d'intervalle, sur ce qui est maintenant une voie verte, une nouvelle passerelle a été ouverte au printemps 2015, chevauchant le nouveau contournement de Lons-le-Saunier, la branche sud, qui doit s'ouvrir à la circulation automobile avant la fin 2015.
This viaduct is located on the greenway from Lons-le-Saunier towards Courlans then Courlaoux where it joins the greenway path Dombes. Originally, the viaduct was located on the railway line that connected Lons-le-Saunier in Saint-Jean-de-Losne line opened on 12/07/1905. The line was closed to passenger traffic on 28.09.1969, the goods ceased on the same date on the portion Bletterans - Chaussin. As against the line has closed down for goods between Lons-le-Saunier Bletterans in 1994.
