(SLO) Na terasi nad desnim bregom Poljanske Sore, ki jo obroblja škofjeloško hribovje z dominantno postavljeno cerkvijo sv. Volbenka, stojita veliki domačiji. Večja in mogočnejša je Kalanova. Zanjo se je v začetku 20. stoletja uveljavilo ime Tavčarjeva domačija, ker je posest kupil pisatelj in politik Ivan Tavčar (Poljane na Škofjo Loko, 28. avgusta 1851 - Ljubljana, 19. februarja 1923). Nekoliko skromnejša je bliže mostu postavljena Debeljakova domačija, ki je ohranila prvotno stanovanjsko in gospodarsko namembnost.
Kalanova hiša je kmečki dvorec osrednjeslovenskega ali cerkljanskega tipa s fasado, oblikovano v baročni maniri. Njen stavbni razvoj sledimo od sredine 17. stoletja naprej. Dvorec je doživel vrh razvoja v 18. stoletju. Maso stanovanjskega objekta dopolnjuje vzporedno stoječe in podobno razsežno gospodarsko poslopje, ki oblikuje skupaj s kozolcem - toplarjem - in dvorcem ambientalno zaključeno celoto in je višek kmečkega stavbarstva v 18. stoletju. Tavčar je ohranil nekaj pohištva Kalanove družine, ki je kasneje dobilo prostor v muzeju v Škofji Loki. Okovana skrinja je bila del navdiha za njegovo Visoško kroniko. Pisatelj je posestvo priredil svojim potrebam. Dodatno je uredil eno prvih teniških igrišč pri nas in na robu gozda postavil kapelo z družinsko grobnico. V njej je pokopan skupaj s svojimi sorodniki.
Bronasti pisatelj sedi za dvorcem pred gručo dreves in gleda proti svojemu rojstnemu kraju, Poljanam. Kip je izdelal Jakob Savinšek l. 1957.
V letu 2012 je Občina Gorenja vas - Poljane delno uredila notranjost dvorca in uredila okolico. Ogledate si lahko obnovljeno vežo in vzhodno sobo, v kateri je urejena razstava Tavčarjevih fotografij iz poljanskih arhivov.

(EN) On the terrace above the left bank of the Poljanska Sora, which is surrounded by the Škofja Loka Hills with the commanding presence of the Church of St. Volbenk, stand two large country manors. The larger and mightier of the two is the Kalan country manor. In the beginning of the 20th century it became known as the Tavčar country manor, as the estate was bought by the writer and politician Ivan Tavčar (Poljane na Škofjo Loko, 28th August 1851 - Ljubljana, 19th February1923). Closer to the bridge stands the slightly more modest Debeljak country manor, which has preserved its original residential and economic purpose.
Kalan House is a country manor of the central Slovenian or Cerklje type with the façade designed in the Baroque manner. Its development as a building can be followed from the middle of the 17th century on. The manor reached the peak of its development in the 18th century. The mass of the residential structure is supplemented with a parallel positioned and similarly extensive outbuilding, which together with the double hayrack - toplar - and the manor finishes off the whole with a certain ambience and is the culmination of farm construction in the 18th century. Tavčar preserved some of the furniture of the Kalan family, which was later given a place in the museum in Škofja Loka. The forged chest was a part of the inspiration for his Visoko Chronicles (Visoška Kronika). The writer adapted the estate according to his needs. He also set up one of the first tennis courts in our territory and at the edge of the forest he put a chapel with the family tomb, where he is buried with this relatives.
The bronze writer sits behind the manor under a group of trees looking towards his birthplace Poljane. The statue was made by Jakob Savinšek in 1957.
In year 2012 community Gorenja vas – Poljane restored part of manor's interior and surroundings. Now you can visit renovated hall and eastern room in which you can see colection of Ivan Tavčar photography from archives.
