The Witton Gilbert War Memorial was originally sited in Witton Dene, a small wooded valley south of the main street, but due to vandalism it was moved to its present location in 1978. It is a Cross of St.Cuthbert type on tall tapering octagonal column. It was originally unveiled on 1st September 1922 and unveiled in its new position on 15th November 1978.
