Geocache Description:

Church Micro -  Normanby Le Wold

NOTE: I AM DOING MAINTENANCE FOR ALL OF THE LOOP 2 WEEKEND OF 10TH OCTOBER AND 11TH SO IF YOU ARE DOING IT YOU MAY SEE ME :) WILL BE REPLACING ALL LOGS, SOME CONTAINERS WITH NEW OR DIFFERENT ONES AND A GENERAL CHECK UP.

This is the first cache of the Wolds View series. Cache number 1

If you find any wet logs on the series, please replace and discard the old if you can.

Wolds View so far has TWO loops. Loop 1 and Loop 2 (20 miles). There will be badges for your profile on completion of one of either loop or both Loops

This is the start of Loop 2. Loop 2 comprises of about 110 caches with the extras en route. Not calculated distance yet but probably similar to loop 1 being 18 miles but there is a short cut route half way that probaly halves the distance.

This is a one stage multicache and very near to the church. To work this out you will need to observe and walk around the churchyard. The cache is not in the church grounds.

The Northings are: N 53 AB.AAA

The Westings are: W 000 CD.BED

To find the numbers that relate to the letters you need to answer the following questions:

A = How many gates are there as you enter the church yard?

B = How many drain pipes are there?

C = How many benches in the church grounds?

D = How many Windows on ground floor (not individual panes) minus 3

E = How many words on the bench?

Enjoy finding the cache..

St. Peter's Church, Normanby le Wold  is almost at the highest point in Lincolnshire and you can see vews nearby to the Trent and Lincoln Cathedral 20 miles away. The Viking Way passes past the church.  There has been a worshipping community on this site for many centuries and the Doomsday Book mentions a church at Normanby although today there is no trace of what was presumably an Anglo Saxon building.  The present building was probably built in the 13th Century and the earliest parish registers, now held in the Lincoln County Archives, date back to 1561.  By 1867 the building was described as "dilapidated" and the parish appointed Louth architect John Fowler to restore the church.

If anybody would like to expand  this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.

There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list
