Winterborne Stickland
The 202nd in a series of caches where a red telephone box
is in close proximity to a post box
Winterborne Stickland is a small village nestled in a valley, which runs north to south, and gives rise to the first part of its name. The second part ‘Stickland’ is derived from sticol, Old English for "steep". A small arm of the village runs west following the course of the River Winterborne to its source.
Winterborne Stickland’s village sign shows the village’s name as Winterburn Stikellane, which is how it was known in the year 1203.
A K6 style telephone box and a postbox are at the northern end of the village.
