Geocache Description:

This cache is one of a series of 26, the Surrey A-Z, placed across the county by a team of 'Surrey Cachers'. The caches vary in type, size and difficulty, and each location has a different initial letter...

Surrey A-Z

'G' is for Grafham

Grafham is a settlement by the A281 Guildford-Horsham road and includes three roadside buildings that form part of Palmers Cross hamlet and Goose Green to the southwest. In shape it is a linear hamlet with 35 houses. The Grade II*-listed church, St Andrew's, is the burial place of its stone-specialist Gothic Revival architect Henry Woodyer. The church (see also GC3Q866) was built between 1861 and 1864 at his own expense; it has a statue of Saint Andrew and carvings of Woodyer himself, his wife and daughter.

At the starting coordinates on the A281 at Grafham there is parking for a couple of cars.
Here you will find a Post Box.

Let the time of the Monday to Friday collection be  A . BC pm

And the time of the Saturday collection is  D . EF am

The post box number is GU5 GHJ

To the left of the gate is the Grafham Grange Room which was erected in memory of James C McAndrew.  The opening ceremony mentioned on the upper stone above the green door was held on 7 October 19KL

Using the above information proceed to the following coordinates.  You can either walk approx half a mile each way using a mixture of footpaths and road, otherwise it may be easier to relocate car to nearby parking for a much shorter walk.

N 51 (J - D) C . (H + K) (J / G) (B + E )

W000 (F - G) E . (L - G) (A + F) (F + B)

Here you will see a marker post for where two footpaths cross.  In true Letterbox fashion, finally now walk 200 feet in a south south east direction to find the cache which is a large ammo box.  Inside the box you will find a log book and pencil in a separate suitably labelled plastic box.  In a second small labelled plastic box you will find a Letterbox stamp - this should NOT be removed from the cache.  A third labelled plastic box is provided for Geocoins and small Trackables. I have placed a few small toys and swappables in the box to start with - please trade fairly. There should be no need to remove container from its hiding place - just unclip the lid. Finally please ensure that the lid is properly secured before leaving. Thank you and Happy hunting!
