Geocache Description:

The cache is a 35mm film pot placed at ground level.

When I drove past the Cranbrook War Memorial today, with my being a military history fanatic, the first thing I saw was the WW1 German Howitzer.
I then saw the nearby War Memorial and then the ploughshare.

WW1 German Howitzer:
As the nearby plaque states:
This 1917 (WW1) German Howitzer was presented by the War Trophies Commission to the Parish of Cranbrook in recognition of the contribution made by its residents during the 1914 - 18 war.

The War Memorial:
Unlike many war memorials, where the names of the fallen are recorded on the monument, the list of names related to this War Memorial are located on memorials at the Parish Church of St. Dunstan.

The reason became clear when I found the Roll of Honour for Cranbrook webpage.

All of the names of the men who gave the Supreme Sacrifice couldn't be fitted on the memorial.
Cranbrook has lost an amazing number of residents, especially for its size:

East Indies (1826): Thomas John Adams (Lieutenant, 3rd or Palamacottah Regiment of Light Infantry East Indies).
Boer War (1900-02): 8 names.
Africa (1904): Claud Alexander (died at Maifoni).
Africa (1910): Boyd Alexander (Scots Guards).
WW1 (1917): Boyd Francis Alexander (Rifle Brigade)
WW1 (1914-18): 107 names (many names from the same families).
WW2 (1939-45): 25 names (two pairs with the same surname).
Falklands (1982): Anthony Richard Norman (HMS Sheffield).

The Ploughshare:
As the nearby plaque states:
... and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares ...
Isaiah 2:4

This Ransome plough was used in the local hop gardens during the 1914-18 war.
