História de Alcantarilha:
O território que compreende o actual concelho de Silves é habitado pelo homem desde a pré-história e os testemunhos mais antigos dessa presença humana surgem precisamente na zona de influência histórica da freguesia de Alcantarilha, mais precisamente nas praias fósseis da Torre e do Morgado das Relvas, no litoral.
O primeiro povoado de Alcantarilha, surgiu ainda em épocas pré-romanas. O primitivo núcleo habitacional teria origem numa hipotética fortaleza, instalada no outeiro onde se desenvolveu a povoação, que, de acordo com o inventário da Direcção Geral dos Edifícios e Monumentos Nacionais, consistiria num castro lusitano de povoamento de transição do Neolítico para o Calcolítico. Por Alcantarilha (segundo o mesmo inventário), passaram fenícios, gregos e cartagineses.
Sendo Alcantarilha uma terra cujas origens estão envoltas em mistérios e tradições muito antigas, a raiz do seu topónimo não parece, contudo, suscitar dúvidas. É de origem árabe e deriva de al-quanTarâ, (ponte, viaduto, aqueduto) que, no seu diminutivo românico, moçarabe, significariaponte pequena ou pontezinha.
Centro de Alcantarilha:
O centro de Alcantarilha composto pelo: Mercado Municipal, Junta de Freguesia,Lar da 3ª Idade, Escola Primária, Creche, Bombeiros Voluntários de Alcantarilha (destacamento dos Bombeiros de Silves), Centro de Saúde e Correios.

A cache é tamanho pequeno, contendo apenas logbook e stashnote. Levem material de escrita. Não serão aceites fotografias como prova de log!!! O local é de algum movimento, peço que tenham cuidado ao retirar e a por o container no sitio, verifiquem sempre se ficou bem colocado.
