Fontaine asséchée
Après la place Saint-Sauveur, la ville de Caen s'attaque à la place de la République.
Des travaux ont commencés pour la « désenclaver ». Les haies et massifs qui bloquaient la vue vers l'intérieur de la place ont été enlevés. C'est la première étape de la mise en valeur, une deuxième étape de concertation avec les habitants doit permettre d'envisager une nouvelle métamorphose.
Le sort de la fontaine réalisée en 1976 par Gérard Manonni n'est pas encore défini. Elle est en arrêt depuis deux ans du fait qu'elle perd de l'eau et que cela inonde le parking souterrain situé en dessous.

After the place Saint-Sauveur, the city of Caen attacks the place of the Republic.
Works began "to open up" her. Hedges and massifs which blocked the view inward of the place were removed. It is the first stage of the development, the second stage of dialogue with the inhabitants has to allow to envisage a new metamorphosis.
The fate of the fountain realized in 1976 by Gérard Manonni is not defined yet. It is in stop for two years when it loses some water and when it floods the underground parking situated down.
