Anyone who has been on the other two trails I have set in the area will know what a lovely spot the Alkham Valley is. Set between Dover and Folkestone the countryside and hilly aspect give the impression of being far further afield.
The village green from the side of the car park is one of the best places to get a good view of the village of Alkham. Sitting prominent is the church and below it the now 'very posh'pub hotel. This has come along way from the local pub which was there when I first moved the the village.
In the summer cricket matches are played on the rather challenging shaped village green - nothing is more quintessentially English on a warm summers afternoon.
Also runing through the village green is the path of the Nailbourne. An underground river which rises during years of high water levels. It has been a recent feature over the last 2 winters.
The first cache is up Slip Lane. The safest way to get to Slip Lane is to cross the bridge onto the village grfeen and head towards right hand side of cricket pavillion and cross over road there. The traffic is more visible from here rather than from following lane to junction.
The old village chapel is visible a short distance away from cache #1. You are looking for a micro tube. Be careful - Muggles about!
