Geocache Description:

The war memorial of the World War I was inaugurated on April 3rd, 1927 in Caen.
It is set up in the center of the place Foch, recently created after the demolition of the home Saint-Louis.

The monument was drawn by Paul Bigot. The statue is Henri Bouchard's work. Bas-reliefs on the base are of Raymond Bigot and Alphonse Saladin.

Due to its position, in front of the meadow and thus back of the city, the column is sometimes nicknamed "Madame de Cul-vers-ville" (That's an idiomatic joke, that means "Lady of Bottom-towards-city").
