Another quiet, country graveyard reflecting a once larger flourishing community.
The Upper Greenhill Loyalist Cemetery was established in 1844, a while after early settlers moved from New Canaan in 1812; they sought to find more land for cultivation. The abundance of butternut trees and maple trees suggested a rich, viable soil for planting their crops. The community would be know as Butternut Ridge for years until the railway arrived and with regular mail service folks thought the name Havelock would suit it better.
