L'Hôtel Scipion, vestige de la Renaissance, a été construit en 1532 pour le doyen de Saint-Marcel. A partir de 1565, Scipion Sardini, collecteur de taxes sur les auberges et cabarets de Paris, s'y installa. Il fut ensuite transformé en hospice en 1612 puis devint la boulangerie des Hôpitaux de paris à la Révolution jusqu'en 1974. C'est maintenant un bâtiment administratif de l'APHP.
Quand on pénètre sous la voute (par la porte cochère, parfois ouverte), on accède à une grande cour pavée et on peut admirer la partie classée du 16 e siècle : une galerie reposant sur 6 arcades de pierre surmontées d'une façade en briques, décorée de médaillons en terre cuite.
La cache se trouve en face, dans le square Scipion (renommé Théodore Monod en 2011) qui existe depuis 1899. Il est orné d'une curieuse fresque Arts nouveaux en grès cérame de Alexandre Charpentier intitulée "les boulangers", et réalisée pour l'exposition universelle de 1900.

The Scipion Hotel, is a remnant of Renaissance, it was built in 1532 for the Dean of St. Marcel. From 1565, Scipio Sardini, tax collector for Inns and cabarets of Paris, settled there. It was transformed into a hospice in 1612 and became the bakery of the paris Hospitals from the Revolution until 1974. It is now an administrative building of the AP-HP (French public hospitals).
If you go under the vault (through the gate, sometimes open), you reach a large paved courtyard and you can admire the classified part of the 16th century: a gallery lying on six stone arcades surmounted by a brick facade decorated with terracotta medallions.
The cache is located across the street, in the square Scipion (renamed Théodore Monod in 2011) which has existed since 1899. The garden is decorated with a curious "new Arts" mural décoration in stoneware from Alexandre Charpentier entitled "bakers" and performed for universal Exhibition of 1900.
