This refuge is a 4,212 acre that is composed of freshwater marsh and cypress-tupelo swamp. It provides an excellent habitats for waterfowl, wading birds, and neotropical songbirds. A one-mile walking trail through the refuge can be accessed off Bayou Black Drive in Gibson.
