St. Augustine's Catholic Church
St. Augustine's Church first began in 1838 when Jesuits arrived and founded a small mission here in Tunbridge Wells.
The first St. Augustine's Church was built on the corner of Hanover Road and Grosvenor road, where Tesco now stands.
It was a Classical Style Sandstone and built in 1837- 1838 by Joseph Ireland. This was demolished in 1968.
The present Church, a large, low building was completed in 1965 and dedicated to Joseph Ireland.
