Patonga's Dark Corner is well-named, appearing gloomy and forbidding when the sun is at the right angle. It's a place for dark creatures, hungry critters waiting patiently for an unsuspecting geocacher to stick his or her hand into, well, a dark corner I suppose.
This area of bush on the headland east of Patonga lies just outside the boundary of Brisbane Water National Park. The row of houses along the foreshore, dating from the 1920s, have permissive occupancy on land now otherwise zoned for public recreation. GZ is well away from the dwellings and can be approached without going near them (follow the track into the national park until finding a suitable place to turn off it).
There's a fair bit of rock-hopping involved in reaching the cache, but no cliffs. Take care with your footing as many of the rocks are covered in thick leaf litter. The cache is in a pretty impressive rocky outcrop, with views back across the beach, but please make sure it's rehidden out of sight as there's evidence of muggle visitations nearby.
I've set the Public Transport attribute as there's a bus service to Patonga, but it doesn't run very frequently so check the timetables first!
Please be gentle opening and closing the container. If anything jams don't force it, please just leave it and either contact me or log an NM.
There's not much room inside for anything more than the logbook and pencil, although geocoins or a small TB should be okay.
FTF kudos went to seaeagles1997 and mrnoo17, the fleetest of foot and most daring of hand. Do you still have all your fingers?
