Geocache Description:

A one mile hike will take you to a serpentine knob with great views down to the Illinois River, across the Kalmiopsis Wilderness and of Eight Dollar Mountain.

This hike starts on an old road and after about a quarter mile a trail turns off to the right.  The trail can be a bit hard to spot so watch for a small "trail" sign on a tree.  The trail has some easy ups and downs and ends at a location with a great view and even has a couple of picnic tables for a "sit break".  Once on the trail, it's fine for dogs.  As always, watch out for rattlesnakes that can be in the area.  Your GPS may show shorter routes as you drive up the access road but they would involve steep climbs up the side of a hill and the trail will be much more enjoyable!  The cache is filled with books so feel free to do a book enchange.  At a bit over 3000', so there may be some snow in the heart of winter.
