Geocache Description:

Holy Land USA was an 18 acre theme park in Waterbury inspired by select passages of the bible and closed in 1984.  You can see the beautiful new cross that lights the hillside on I-84 (replaced on December 22, 2013.)

Holy Land USA was conceived by John Baptist Greco with the purpose of creating an attraction that would replicate the Bethlehen and Jerusalem of the Biblical era.  Construction began in 1955 with peak years in the 1960s and 1970s.  Some of the attractions included a recration of the Garden of Eden, a diorama depicting Daniel in the lion's den, and a 56-foot cross.  During it's peak years there were more than 40,000 visitors yearly.    When the site closed in 1984 Greco anticipated to explant and improve the site, but the work was left unfinished when he died in 1986.  He left the property to the Filippini sisters, and was purchased in June 2013 by Mayor Neil O'Leary and Fred "Fritz" Blasius and plan to revitilize the site (part of which was done by replacing the cross in December 2013).

You are looking for a small camo covered pill bottle outside the main gates of the property.  There is a small parking area a few feet away.  Because of the steep grade of the drive up to the location I did not include it as part of the Winter Quickies series, however, it is a very quick park & grab, I just wouldn't make the drive with icy conditions.

The streets are extremely winding and one way, just GPS yourself to Slocum Street. You can actually see the cache location if you punch it into Google maps.
