Geocache Description:

One of a series of caches that celebrate Waimapihi Polhill Reserve.

Wellington City Council, like many councils around the country, has invested a lot of time and money in new mountain bike and walking tracks in the last five to ten years.

One area that has received a lot of attention is Waimaphihi Polhill Reserve. Three new tracks include Highbury Fling, Transient and Serendipity; since this cache was published Clinical and Ikigai have been added.

The Transient track is a well formed and relatively easy gradient 3.8km track that connects Ashton Fitchett Driven in Brooklyn with Aro Street. It is a dual use (uphill mountain bike and two way pedestrian) track. Downhill mountain bikers now use Ikigai and Serendipity. Near the top, Transient meets the Highbury Fling track, connecting it with Highbury. The track can be busy at times, particularly early in the morning and in the evening with dog walkers, and at lunchtimes and weekends with runners and mountain bikers. Mountain bikes should give way to pedestrians but in reality this doesn't always work, so be alert.

This cache is the second in a series of four. The first is Serendipity, the third is Highbury Fling, and the fourth is Planet Ride. The first three contain codes required to solve the location of the fourth. If you are doing all four at once, start at Aro Street and ascend via Transient, doing each cache in order.

Other track users (and particularly bikes) can appear suddenly, so please take care when retrieving and replacing this cache. Please bring your own pen, and don't forget to retrieve the codes (b and y) required for Planet Ride.
