I Ädelfors är Sveriges första guldgruva.
I tidig pleistocen (cirka 1,75 miljoner år sedan så) här i Ädelfors hydrotermala malm- och mineralgångar är skapad av vulkaniska aktiviteter. Dom mestadels består av kvarts och har sprinklings av infödda guld - se bilden (3).
Spårelementer, salter och föreningar var på plats vid smälten och speciellt trycken och temperaturen gäller där.
Kordinaterna visar en platå med en av det 93 ingångar till gruvan. Ingången är omringad av staketet. Se bilden (1). Stanna utanför staketet! Här finns ett stor sten - se bilden (2) och flera små stenar.
Se upp för stenar med kvarts inslutningar. Du ska snabbt hitta 2 sådana stenar.
För att logga denna cache ska du:
- Förklara med egna ord hur det ser ut. Är tjockleken till exempel konstant, eller har det olicka tjockleker på både sidor? Vilka färger känner du igen i kvartsen?
- Gnugga två stenar tillsammans. Hur luktar det?
- Vilket grundämne kan vara orsaken till färgen i kvarts och lukten?
Varje gång du hittar denna typiska lukt eller denna typiska färgning av grundämnen i kvartsgångar, chansen att hitta guld är betydligt högre!
Ta gerna ett kort av dig själv och/eller din gps på stora stenen eller vid staketet.

In Ädelfors is Sweden's first gold mine.
This EarthCache should teach you, what is an indicator for gold in quartz veins.
In the Early Pleistocene (about 1.75 million years ago so) hydrothermal ore and mineral veins were created by volcanic activities here in Ädelfors. They mostly consist of quartz and have sprinklings of native gold - see picture (3).
During the melt special trace elements, salts and compounds were present in the core and a distinctive pressure and temperature was present.
The coordinates guide you to a plateau with one of the 93 entrances to the mine. The entrance is fenced. See picture (1). Stay outside the fence! Here you can find a big rock - see picture (2) and many small rocks.
Prospect for rocks with quartz inclusions. You should quickly find 2 such rocks.
To log the cache you need to determine the following:
- Describe the look of the quartz inclusions in your own words. Is the strength of, for example, consistently, or on one side thinner than the other? Which colors do you recognize in the quartz?
- Rub two rocks together. How does it smell?
- Which chemical element can be the cause for the color in the quartz and the smell?
Whenever you find this typical smell or this typical coloring of the element in quartz veins, the chance of finding gold is significant higher!

In Ädelfors befindet sich Schwedens erste Goldmine.
Dieser EarthCache soll dir zeigen, woran man erkennen kann, dass in den Quarzgängen Gold vorhanden sein kann.
Im Altpleistozän (also ca. vor 1,75 Millionen Jahren) entstanden hier in Ädelfors durch vulkanische Tätigkeiten hydrothermale Erz- und Mineralgänge. Diese bestehen größtenteils aus Quarz mit Einschlüsse von purem Gold - siehe Bild (3).
Bei der Gesteinsschmelze im Erdinneren waren gewisse Spurenelemente, Salze und Verbindungen vorhanden, und es herrschte ein bestimmter Druck und eine bestimmte Temperatur.
Die Koordinaten führen dich zu einem Plateau mit einem der 93 Eingänge der Mine. Der Eingang ist eingezäunt. Siehe Bild (1). Bleibe außerhalb der Umzäunung! Hier gibt es einen großen Stein - siehe Bild (2) - und mehrere kleine Steine.
Halte nach Steinen mit Quarzeinschlüssen Ausschau. Du solltest schnell 2 solche Steine finden.
Um loggen zu dürfen, musst du folgendes herausfinden:
- Beschreibe das Aussehen der Quarzeinschlüsse mit eigenen Worten. Ist die Stärke zum Beispiel gleichbleibend, oder an einer Seite dünner als an der anderen? Welche Farben erkennst du im Quarz?
- Reibe zwei Steine aneinander. Wonach riecht das?
- Welches chemische Element könnte für die Färbung im Quarz und für den Geruch verantwortlich sein?
Immer wenn man den typischen Geruch oder die typische Färbung dieses Elementes in Quarzgängen findet, ist die Chance Gold zu finden besonders hoch!
Über ein Bild von dir und/oder deinem GPS an dem großen Stein oder dem Zaun freue ich mich besonders!
