Monty Python’s Life of Brian is my all–time favourite international movie. When it was released in 1979 it created huge controversy with accusations of blasphemy and there were protests from many religious groups. Some countries, including Ireland and Norway, banned its showing, with a few of these bans lasting decades. The filmmakers used such notoriety to benefit their marketing campaign, with posters stating "So funny it was banned in Norway!"
