VS#193 Essendon Multi-cache

The whole of this puzzle can be solved by getting information from three locations close to the village sign.  There is nothing complicated so it is a nice one for kids to help with. Bring tweezers and a pen/pencil. The sign shows the beautiful cedar from the churchyard. However, the village takes it's name from another species of tree....

The best place to park is Church Street, although there is also parking in School Lane if it is too busy by the church.

Coordinates of the actual cache (a magnetic nano) are: N 51^o45.ABC W 000^o09.DEF

At the first set of coordinates you will find the War Memorial (on the corner of Church Road) here you will need to read the names and see how many Geoffreys the parish lost in WWII. This gives you the value of "D" in the coordinates. Each year the children of the parish carry poppies with the names of Essendon’s fallen soldiers to place on a display at the front of the church in a poignant memorial tradition.

Cross the road and walk back into the churchyard. Head down the path past the impressive trees collecting a few conkers perhaps in the autumn. Pass the church entrance and continue to the far side of the yard where a gate leads to the fields. Here, in the corner of the churchyard you will find a family plot where the First Baron of Essendon and his wife and some of their family are buried. You will also find B and F from the final coordinates. Eleanor Essendon (1873-196B), and I. F. M. Napier her grandson (19F7-198F).

Now head back towards the lynch gate and on the side of the church you will see a plaque commemorating the rebuilding of parts of the church after the WWI zeppelin attack.  This plaque will give another two numbers you need to build your coordinates. 191E saw the reopening of the chancel, vestry and organ chamber after the rebuilding from the damage of the zeppelin raid on Sunday 3 September 191A.

Your puzzle will next take you to the large playing/cricket field.

The final cache is located relatively close to a lovely new historical spot which you will not necessarily appreciate until you get there. Have a look at the Ash Tree in the corner of the field and read the plaque placed there by Essendon Parish council. This plaque contains your last clue towards the final coordinates. The last line of the inscription starts with a number this number gives you "C".

There are lots of easy larger caches very close where you can grab loot and hide your trackables, but I hope this easy and family friendly puzzle appeals and the log in this nano is reward enough!
